Way Back When I Was...

When I was a youngster, I would always grip or play with anything that was in the house. I would grab my sister toys and then I would grab my. But my mom told me that I was such a cut kid, and then later told what I did with those toys. The thing that I would hold on and never let go was my barbies. And when I was told it was bedtime, my mom would try to take it a away. But I never let it get out of my sight. I brought it with me everywhere I went. Even other favorite toys I would be sucking on it or just looking at it for a long time. I mostly played by myself.

In this week we learned about the different reflexes of Developmental psychology. When the babies are born, they inherited, automatic, coordinated movement patterns. Four out of the three can mean the same thing.

When I was little, I would always be sucking on the plastic toy keys. And then my mom would put them against my face and I would move towards it. Rooting for a baby is near the mouth. The head usually toward the source.  But it disappears around 4 months and but it becomes voluntary.  The sucking come with it and they suck anything that will touch their mouth.

I started to walk when I was almost close to about a year old. As soon as I was walking, I would walking everywhere in the house, but I used like a little stroller to help out. The walking  is present as soon as the baby is born. They cannot support their weight, they need something to support them. On the soles on their tiny feet touches the flat surface and try to foot in front of foot. The reflex disappears in about 6 weeks.

If you ever had hold a baby before, and you put your finger in their tiny little hand, they have a really tight grasp on it. As soon as they get the response to that touch, they will grasp and maybe not letting go to the object.

It is cute when the baby spreads their arms and their legs if you make a funny sound. This happens when they hear an unexpected noise or if they even if they feel like if their falling. It disappears within 4 to 5 months.

If the baby is born without the reflexes, they could have a neurological problem to them.

Aphasia (The thing that keeps your brain hostage)

I learned about something that I didn't even knew exist. Aphasia was so interesting that I wanted to learn more. So what Aphasia is is that it is a speech disorder that effects your temporal and also frontal lobe.  So it would be hard a time because it effects your reading, language, and also writing. When they lose their ability of those, it can get hard for them. Even when they talking in a conversation. But it is most common to get it in the left hemisphere of the brain. When they get Aphasia, it could of happen if they got a stroke, head injury, and also a brain tumor. How it happen is when a part of the brain blocked the blood flow, so then it would cut the blood supply for the brain.

Some of the symptoms that you could see if they speak in in complete sentences. Making sentences that would not make any sense. For example: If you give a sentences that says "the person pet the cat." But then they would say "the cat pet the person." But the major thing is when they keep making spelling mistake. Some times they would have to write down somethings down for them to talk and also spell. It is also hard for them to comprehend what other people are saying or what them self's are saying.

When Sarah Scott(on left) was 18 years old, she had a stroke. She had a very hard time talking and didn't know what was happening. She would had to write things to help her understand. So then her mom(on right) made a video at 9 months from her stroke and then one at 16 months from her stroke. On her second video she had improved a lot. She got a job and she like college. When she got stump on something, her mom would ask if she wants to write it down. But she didn't want to. She goes to a speech therapist one a week for help.

For some treatment that would be helpful is going to a local clinic where there is group therapy. That person would help with the person that has trouble most in. For most have a problem with their speech. So then they would bring a speech pathologist for their speaking ability. What the pathologist would bring in is a card that has pictures that have words with it; and they would want that person try to ask them what does those things  say. This would help them comprehend things more and their speaking ability. It just takes time for them to heal.

It was fun researching this disorder because i got learn something that never knew. They didn't understand anything that they would get. And have a hard time reading and writing. If I got it, I wouldn't be myself. I already hard for me to understand thing I get at school like homework. It is also hard for me  to comprehend things that are easy for others. That's why I would have to keep writing things down to help me understand.

Wow, I didn't know that happen

Memory for people is kinda like a maze. People would have to think of what  they did that day, or what a person might have told them. If they couldn't remember about it, then they would be screwed. If they can't remember for a short amount of time, that would be called short term memory.Short term memory is the capacity for holding a small amount of information in a short amount of time capacity. Short term memory can hold up about seven unrelated items

For example: One of my favorite that always forget about either what is going on or anything else would be Dory. When Dory meets Marlin and shes shows where she saw where the boat went that has Nemo. She keeps asking why he keeps following her. And even when she is trying to remember the address to find where Nemo is. Sometimes Dory would forget Nemo's name. She would call him either Fabio or Elmo.

For me, I always forget thing very much. I am just like that because that is how I am. It always happens in school if there is too much homework that I had to do. And if one of my friends says something, and then another one would tell me something different. Then I would forget the thing really fast. But if I write that thing down, then i wouldn't forget what they said. That even happens for when my teachers are talking.

If you wouldn't want to forget anything you could tie a string on your finger or maybe even write on your hand so you know what needs to get done. Or do whatever think that will help.
